Daughter dropped by one of the Austin stores today and they told me that they would not do a case replacement but would do an exchange for $249 - coincidentally the same price as they wanted for the estimate. I think there is a problem with the way you approached Apple.
Dont tell what to do ie swap the case,
Ask them to fix the iPhone.
Let them "figure" how...
