Apparently I'm no longer a red light camera virgin

[quote deckeda]Have no doubt about that. Could be years, if ever, that this vehicle is in NY again; it's not registered there. I'm not a registered NY driver. And we're still not sure it arrived in the mail since it didn't come certified or registered. Just sayin'
OK, I don't really understand if you didn't see any lights go off and you haven't rec'd a tix why you think you were nabbed. It's possible the camera was a dummy, not working, or that you didn't actually run the light (as the camera is defined to photograph violators).

That said NYC isn't THAT incompetent. If you ran the light and the camera snapped you they have your plates so they have your name, rank, and serial #. If it was a rental they still have your info. If you were driving a pal's car, he's a real pal if he takes the rap for you.

Depending on the level of cooperation your state has w/ NY, it's not as simple as blowing off a parking ticket. States take moving violations more seriously, even though cameras can only result in a civil penalty. Failure to dispute = admission of fault. If your state does have a cooperation agreement and you are found at fault you won't be able to renew your license until you pay the fine plus any penalties.

So you might want to look into the consequences before blowing the tix off. BTW they don't have to send the ticket to you via cert or reg. mail. Reg 1st class will do. If you don't "get" it, your prob, not there's. It's good to be the king.
