It amazes me how little folks sometimes know about the tools they use.
A few years back I worked with a woman for whom the term "computer illiterate" was seemingly coined. She could barely turn the damn thing on! Imagine my amazement when, one day while passing her cubicle, I glanced over her shoulder and found her putting the finishing touches on a huge column of numbers in Excel. Boy, was I impressed! I was curious to see whether she had learned enough to know about the easy method (the Sum button) or if she was going to kick it old school by manually typing the Sum formula at the base of the column.
She did neither.
Instead, she busted out a hand calculator AND PROCEEDED TO USE IT TO ADD THE NUMBERS. When she had her sum, she dutifully typed it in at the bottom of the column.
I was barely able to hold the laughter long enough to vacate the vicinity. One of the best laughs I ever had.
