But that has been true for several years now, multi-core x86 processors are not new, Apple's been shipping them for more than two years. The hard part is rewriting to go from one core to "more than one core", and usually when this is done consideration is given to the fact that over time the number of cores will be increasing, and the algorithms are written to take advantage of as many cores as are available, and a 12 core chip now really doesn't change the amount of development work needed from when there were just dual-core chips.
