I don't see where it would hurt anything to just try it. But backing up up that HD could be a good idea.
DiskWarrior updates their CDs regularly to boot new Macs because there are occasional changes in the ROM.
My WAG (and that's all it is) is if the ROM is different between those two models, then the same HD might not boot both.
Or it may be that the ROM just looks for something specific in the OS, and Leopard on both (certainly Retail Leopard on both??) would work. Maybe.
