The myth of rechargeables saving you money

I bought a pack of perhaps 20 AAs less than 6 months ago and can't find a single one around the house. What with teenagers, their friends and their bevy of controllers and remotes I am not surprised. The problem is of a different kind when I use them exclusively. They are never ready when I am. It is not a "Myth".
Mine don't get lost.
I save tons of $$$.
