Need mid-level digital with wide-angle for landscape shots

I don't really need a digital slr for this project, just a decent digital camera with wide-angle capacity for work. I have to shoot a bunch of lanscape shots, most of which will be used on the web or fairly small in tri-fold broches and on panel cards (I realize they will be small, but that's the assignment).

I'd like to keep in the $600 range or so.

pRon or anyone else have a suggestion?
