Wish I had the money back a few years ago to have an implant done. An upper molar split down to the nerve, and the choice was to either pull it or do a root canal and hope the pinned pieces stayed together. Not having the money then for a root canal, but hoping to in a couple years have it for an implant, I had it pulled. Things did not come together, and I never got the implant done. Now a dozen years later the molar in the lower jaw has risen into the gap and I am not a candidate any longer for an implant. It has thrown various issues into my bite on that side. At the least, follow AlphaDog's advice and see if a guard is advisable if you decide to not go through with the implant.
