Not to hijack, but in the past week I've talked to about a dozen and a half clients and friends who I helped get over to MacBooks when they first started coming out. They had all been WinXP converts.
Not one of them said they gave a good crap about Firewire. The only ones who used it routinely were those I convinced to buy external HDs as backups, and even most of them just hooked them up via USB2.
So, a lot of bitching in the Mac community -- much like when they dropped FW support on the iPod -- but the average user really doesn't care.
Of course, and as always, YMMV.
