i joined Blockbuster Online so I could inexpensively get caught up on 30 Rock. (one disk in-store rentals are up to $4.99!)
since we'll only do the sub for 6 weeks, i thought i'd expose my son to a crash course in films that are left an American cultural imprint. you know, those films where story and acting were more important than special effects. (well, okay, so i did include the 10 Commandments...) so far i've queued 1940 - 1959.
To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
Rebel Without a Cause [Special Edition] (1955)
12 Angry Men (1957)
On The Waterfront (1954)
The Caine Mutiny [Collector's Edition] (1954)
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957)
The Ten Commandments: Anniversary Collection [3 Discs]
A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)
Casablanca
of course there are more classic films from that era but these are ones i thought he'd have the patience for. any other must-sees from that timespan?
