I do not feel sorry for it. A good TV from the mid to late 80's ...

Understandable if we're talking about classic cars, hand-made furniture, collectible art, or bottles of fine imported wine. But good grief, this is a television! They don't improve with age. Hanging on to really old ones is either due to valid economic hardship, irrational nostalgia, or good-old-macresource stubborn cheapness. It's beyond value-conscious. Probably, it's just allowing image quality of home viewing to be a very, very low priority--but!--while keeping up with state-of-the-art advances for other consumer technology, modern computers, etc. I was just pointing out the funny disconnect. 25 years is a long time! You can barely find Scotch whiskey that old.

The 21st century is a decade old now. A TV in service for two and a half decades has done a very admirable job of outliving its original purchase value, and serving well beyond expectations. If it were a B & W 1950s Furniture TV, in mint condition, then yes, it's a rare collectible item worth saving. A TV made in 1984 is just a neglected, heavy, very out-of-date TV.

The 21st Century awaits you! It's great here, come on and join us!
