Thanks for all the answers.
Some good leads are provided, and I'll see if I can get the old hand crank TV to work.
We like our Sony. We've stayed in places that have a flat screen, and think the picture quality is inferior to our CRT. But reasonable people can differ, just like the matte vs glossy screen on a MacBook.
There is also the matter of dollars. Why buy a new flat screen TV if you have one that you like already? Even if it is over 20 years old.
Yes, I'm proud of my good old MacResource cheapness. Although we did splurge and buy the Mac Mini at the Apple Store, instead of a less expensive source. And we bought new, not a refurb! My wife gets impatient when I have my eye on a new piece of equipment. She just says buy it now, and don't worry about saving $10 or $25 on a new Mini.
We did pay cash for the TV, which I see we did get in 1984, and had a 15 year mortgage on the house. Both are paid in full. The peace of mind is good.
I do have some neat photos to share, but I'm afraid I don't know how to post them here. Sorry!
Thanks again. All comments are appreciated.
