The way questions about warranties is worded in most of the articles, the reference is to "cars owned or purchased." That's not particularly specific, but the intent seems to be assuring that all warranties will be honored, regardless of when the car was bought. Think of it this way: With the goal being to rebuild these companies, both GM and Chrysler, why would they do anything to burn owners of cars sold before the bankruptcy? They are going to have to keep selling cars, and that simply won't happen if warranties on cars are not honored, even if they were purchased prior to the proceedings. I mean, these people may be kind of dumb, but they aren't stupid.
