I only have 1100 square feet home and a small yard... In the next few years I will have lived there for 10 years and will start looking to move... Overall I wish we
had more room but it's still plenty for my wife and my one kid... However, the more and more I stay the more anxious I get to want to move...
You should just find something that you love "for now" and accept that you'll probably want to move in a few years anyhow... You should just start building up your equity ASAP... Are you renting? or are you already in a home?

Try living on the street. Any house looks good at that point.

House looks nice from the outside and 2500 sq ft sounds like a mansion to me--I don't think our family of 5 has lived in a place bigger than 1600. If you have a decent lot, the add on ideas sound good.

That's a *damn* nice looking house - if everything else is "right" I'd be more than willing to compromise on something as non-essential as two seperate living areas. Really.
No way would I look for a year and then pass on something as good as this one. I think the longest I have looked in the past was 2-3 months.

buy the cheapest house on the biggest lot in the most expensive neighborhood. Then, do an addition and clean it up..
I know looking can be frustrating, but make sure you divide you list into "must haves" and "would be nice"...then you'll have to compromise..
good luck!

Where? What was the asking price? Is your commute to work a factor? Hopefully you aren't looking in the Washington, DC.

the mls shows 20 homes in my town that have over 2500sq ft and are under $350k. 7 of those homes are contingent on financing right now. That leaves a total of 13 homes for us to look at IN THE ENTIRE TOWN.
So I guess I need to get ALOT less picky and just move into any damn thing that keeps the rain off my head.

Damn you all. I just told my wife to go ahead and make an offer. I was gonna spend that money on mini's for everyone in the thread but since you sided with the wife I guess I have to spend the money on a down payment. We will see if she gets it.

Personally I'm a little worried about this. "We will see if SHE gets it." !!!???
Trust me, if you don't feel comfortable about this, I sure as heck hope the sellers don't accept an offer. The ramifications of living with you someplace you don't want to be don't sound pretty.
