I teach on Mondays.

I just tried to find a short video about Columbus Day to show to my students, but they all seemed to be about either parades or excoriating him as a vicious, racist pig (it's true that he wasn't the benign person many of us learned about in elementary school). None of the videos appealed to me, so I gave up.

Working since we are open Monday and only two staff work evenings anyways. I will get a comp day to use later.

I live very near to one of the largest Native Indian reservations in the country. They don't think fondly of Columbus or Columbus Day.
