I think this one little episode reveals Romney's lack of character and pathological lying

Dennis agains makes a mountain out of a molehill. Dennis, did you start this thread out of concern for Romney's marriage, contempt for their money that allows them to take separate planes, or lack of knowledge of Romney's announced schedule of more important things to do?

What would be griping about if he had stayed in London to watch his wife's horse?

Talk about trolls on this forum!

Actually, it was when Romney casually said he didn't know when Ann's event was. That struck me as odd. I think any normal person would know that, given how important it would be in anyone's life. So, it made me think Romney must have known, but for appearance's sake, he acted like he wasn't concerned. So, he just tossed out a casual lie, like he seems to be prone to do.

Then I thought, well maybe he really didn't know. Which made me think: No he's not a liar in this case - he's a cad. Romney could have arranged the logistics of his trip any way he wanted them. He easily could have changed his "schedule of more important things to do."

Money has nothing to do with it. I promise you if Bill and Melinda Gates were in the same situation, Bill would be in his seat when Melinda's event happened.

So, my conclusion is he's either a flippant liar or an uncaring husband. To answer the three points of your question, swampy, it's his unconcern about his wife, which concerns me about his lack of character.

It was a pure and simply a political decision. As much as he might like to be with his wife and the horse, he cannot afford to have those photos circulating during what appears to be a tight election fight.

Thus the quick little lie that slipped so easily from him. Lying is just as easy as telling the truth for him. It doesn't bother him a bit.

To be fair, Bill doesn't have much else going on these days.

Credit where credit is due. Gates brought the Bush administration into the fight against AIDS in Africa, something no one else had the foresight or influence to achieve.
