LOL @Jimmypoo!

Yes, I have all those M$ essentials installed along with all the free antivirus Smile

Remove one or the other, preferrably removing Avast! (don't run two anti-viruses together - it's not like it used to be with confusion and problems, but still not good/efficient for your system - they can 'fight' against each other). You can run anti-malware together though fine (e.g. Malewarebytes, SUPERantiSpyware, SpyBot, etc.)
Did what you suggested. Still seeing the same malware showing up on Spybot S&D. I only have Avast! now after removing AVG.

Just nuke?

Or go with Jimmypoo's advice.

Depending on where the attack is you might have to nuke and pave. I had a system that was attacked on the driver level. That one sucked a$$. Try safemode as suggested.

How do I find out what level the attack is. I might just nuke n pave. It will be a PIA as I will have to first install OEM OS Vista then do the Windows 7 Pro upgrade...I don't have the retail full version of the latter.

Everything said it was clear after starting in safemode and rerunning virus removal apps, then it would show up again. Many times. I tried to get rid of it and nothing but a nuke and pave worked.

Try.

superantispyware

Or

Try starting up from Ultimate Boot Cd. or Other Free Bootable CD (list)
Demo - Ultimate Boot CD Demo Part 1, Demo Part 2
Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows - its different
Good luck. keep us updated.

I use Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool for the wife's PC and it found and removed things the others didn't.

I have the exact result. Will give other options before the N n P method. Thanks everyone!

I agree at this point - just download/run ComboFix - no matter what you think it isn't doing, just wait and wait...it will eventually notify you that it will be restarting.
