I smell skunk

Rabid Skunk:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/19...09050.html

My wife and I were chased last year by a skunk in the daylight. It stopped and I stopped because I couldn't
go any further. I told my wife to go get a shotgun and that was it for Mr. or Mrs. skunk. I've never seen a
skunk behave in that way. We took the loader and gave it a proper burial as far back on the 85 acres as we could.

Actually no. My wife and I were just taking a leisurely walk and the darn thing came out of the woods and
into the pasture and started chasing us at a brisk trot, really weird if you ask me. I can't run so she was
really worried about me, luckily it stopped and I was able to stop while she got a gun.

It hurts me have to kill anything, we don't even eat the cattle that they raise. It would be like eating a
pet. I've had to put down a few sick calves over the years and it tears me apart every time.

When my wife and son have nearly 60 head of cattle with about 15 little calves running with them. We don't
take chances with rabies. Coyotes also are not allowed, although I haven't killed one one of her helpers
has killed two on the farm property. She pretty much let's the deer do whatever they want, one had twins
in the Fall of 2011 and we enjoyed watching them in the late evenings. We're all animal lovers but have to
draw the line somewhere.

Haven't seen any skunks here for a couple years and we certainly had our share.

Last one I saw was walking across my backyard, foaming at the mouth with it's head near the ground and making an odd growling sort of sound. I walked right up to it but I don't think it was lucid enough to know I was there. I went to get a shovel to put it out of its obvious misery but by the time I got back it was nowhere to be found.
There's been reports of rabid foxes not far away but according to "officials" there's no outbreak of rabies here.

I'm not sure the skunk was the only one who wasn't completely lucid.
