i often weigh the cost of used G5 vs faster G4... once the Intel towers are announced, things will change a lot. i can wait. i'd be fine with a used dual 1.8 or 2.0 G5 instead of the new Intel tower, if the price were right.

i am disturbed by the number of G5s i've repaired over the years vs G4s. LOTS more logic boards and power supplies, and they're not cheap.

Greg, if you'd like my heatsink fan, drop me an email. You could pick it up at my workplace sometime this week.

It's a temporary account that I don't use much.

Glad your MDD is still working great!

Wait wait wait, "G5" and "quiet" are not two words to be put into the same sentence, unless there is a "NOT" in between them.

Now maybe I say this because I run InCrease 24x7, but even in a well air-conditioned room there is no stopping those big fans from spinning up like mad from time to time.

Or perhaps I am out of touch with the late model G4.

Increase probably forces your processors to run at top usage all day & all of the night, mikebw. a properly-running G5 that isnt' being taxed runs fairly quiet.

My G5 is very quiet, even with the ATi Radeon 9800 Pro I installed.
