If all you're doing is making phone calls, that may be true.
But then why do you bother with a smart phone?
The iPhone ranks about 4th in my opinion (I use both platforms).
After what?

HTC One, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. Larger screens (that isn't skinny), still really fast, lots of neat features. Fun.

Huh? I browse the web, chat, IM, email, make little doodles, and other such tasks. I could game as well, but I don't like wasting battery on my phones with gaming. I do game on my Android tablets.

Of those, the S4 seems the least troublesome.

Get an iPhone 4. That should be within your price range, and mine works just fine.
It's been a while since I researched... I thought the 4S came out when Apple first made nice-nice with Verizon, and that there is no compatible iPhone 4? Or are you talking about a Sprint iPhone 4?
Nope, the iPhone 4 was the first Verizon iPhone. That is what I have, a 16GB Verizon iPhone 4 not the 4S.

Just to clarify, none of these phones will be found for $150. That's why I suggested something like the 2 year old Droid RAZR. Probably can be found in the $150 range. There are newer models of RAZR as well. Might be a little spendy still for those newer models, but worth the look.

I'm using a Droid Pro, waiting for the 4s to drop in price. The Pro works fine and can be found for $30-40 on eBay.

I disagree with Chak as well. Both systems have their pluses and minuses. I quite like my HTC One ($170 after tax at CostCo) even more than my previous Sensation.
I'm sure I'd like the iPho 6s as well. The iPho is more user freindly for those of us who've been Mac'd for decades. There were many growing pains with Android, but I'm good with it now.
I still have many peers and younger that have their OSX desktops loaded with folders, files, alias, photos, videos and other shiznit. No amount of explanation for some.

This is a link to more or less the same discussion I had at Howard.
Probably how I will proceed when time allows.
PPC serves as a back-up for me when I'm in the boonies away from WiFi with my T-Mo HTC One.
