I'm surprised someone can heat a home for $1 a day. Most people I know that have them are pushing $3-6 per day with Pellets pushing $5-6 a bag around here.

It takes about a bag of these per day @ $5.49/bag.

We are talking Seattle mild winters. And wood pellets can be very reasonable here if you pick them up yourself at a local mill like my buddies do. 2 of the three are not large houses either.

Gotcha. Pellets are high around here I guess of the lack large mills making sawdust and nearly every
furniture factory has closed down in what used to be the furniture capitol not far from here. The town
where I grew looks like a ghost town once you get one block off main. It used to be buzzing with people
just trying to make a decent living at Dixie Furniture and now all those jobs are gone to China.

I have a thousand square foot home and was averaging 6-7 days per bag last winter ($5.50/bag). It's a fairly mild climate here and I would typically run it for a few hours in the morning, then a few hours in the evening. The house seems to hold the heat pretty well. The guy who serviced my stove said the newer ones are more efficient than older ones like mine. I also use an electric heater in my bedroom - the thermostat is set low, so it only comes on when the house cools down at night.
