Getting a replacement battery for Macbook Pro 15

The numbers look the same. Did you mean to post it like that? Thanks.

Yeah. You can find batteries of the same advertised capacity whether 6-cell or 9-cell. Ordinarily, one would expect that the 9-cell batteries would have greater capacity, but that's not necessarily so.

...And in my search results, some of the ones that say they're 5800mAh in the title will say 5200mAh lower down on the page, so dunno how much you can count on advertised spec's.

Cool thanks. Never really focused on that part of the battery for the MBP.

Got a NewerTech off eBay with less than 50 cycles for $25.

You can run it just AC and no battery.

I doubt the opening would be a problem unless maybe you rested the 'Book on a bunch of metal bits.

With no battery, the loss of AC power means that anything unsaved will be lost. Move the 'Book too much or somebody trips on the power cord, buh-bye.

I've used generic $30 batteries from Amazon for our white Macbooks, chosen based on the seller's feedback.

At least some models of MacBook (and Pro and possibly Air) downclock the CPU when the battery is not present. I'd run some tests first to make sure the OP's MBP is running at close to full speed sans battery.
