Ever go up to a stranger and say, 'y'know... you really suck!'?

With the advent of social media, it never hurts to snap a photo. Not that you would post it to FB, or IG, or anything like that... you know, just snap the photo.

FWIW, I really loathe people who sit in their car with the AC running for long stretches. I despise that waste of resource and the attendant pollution it creates.

What you should have done is called the police to come and write her a citation.

Lit'l Bro and I were at a deposition in SF, early in the 00's, and he dropped me off in front the office bldg w/ a bunch of file boxes, then parked his SUV almost three blocks away. After the depo, I waited in front of the office bldg w/ the file boxes, and our drunkard attorney, while bro retrieved the car. When it seemed to be taking way too long for bro to return, and the DT's were hitting the lawyer to the point of extreme discomfort, the lawyer exclaimed, "what's taking your brother so f'ing long to get the gawd dammed car..."

I told him, that lit'l bro was probably being rousted for being a seemingly healthy dude trying to use a gimp placard. Sure enough, another painful few minutes later, bro's car finally comes slowly around the corner, followed closely behind by a couple each of SFPD cruisers and motorcycles, w/ lights flashing away (thankfully no sirens). After bro parked, half of the cops drove away, and the rest continued w/ the hassle. I showed the cops my placard paperwork to legitimize bro's use of a placard, but bro had used our mother's placard, since mine was in use for my van, which was parked in a handicap spot in the underground lot of our mother's old fogie's bldg back in San Jose, and when bro picked me up that morning, we didn't have time to swap the placards.

The cops got more pissy and started spouting technicalities, and LawyerMan™ started really getting his knickers in a twist, needing to pound down a few cold brews to settle his nerves asap, and the whole situation was escalating beyond discomfort for everyone. Thankfully, the cops' saner heads finally prevailed and they gave up their futile quest. I'm still betting LawyerMan™ stopped at a bar before getting to his rental car and going back across the Bay to his Alameda hotel room.

Some handicap parking scandals aren't what they appear to be, and some blatant abuses are much worse than they appear. LIS's BIL oughta be BlueZoneMan™ on a full-time basis.

Yes!

Geeze, it's not rocket science. And it's illegal to leave a running car unattended. Kids don't count. It's also a potential child welfare situation.

I do it all the time. If the car leaves before the cops get there, I let them know. I know of someone who parked have in a 'disabled' parking space and half in the adjacent hatched area. That's two separate violations. They were cited accordingly.

Not quite as common are people who abuse the parking placard or plate. The usually results it a cite and confiscation of the placard. If it gets returned, it's not until the offense is adjudicated.

This person has succeeded in screwing up two accessible spaces at once.
Idiot…

'Two parking spaces' is a stretch. But parking in the hatched area is still an expensive ticket, at least in CA.

Space on the left is set up for vans with a lift that uses the crosshatched zone as a landing area. The right space, which I would have used, allows me to open the car door wide to ease my egress but is now blocked by the scofflaw.

I stand by my “two parking spaces” statement.

I would never advocate going up to a stranger and addressing him or her in that way. I say this based on the four weeks I spent on a grand jury that mainly heard homicide cases.

You don’t know what is going on in people’s lives, especially when they are strangers — but it also pays to proceed with caution if you only know them casually.

Just traveling around the city, I have seen people lose it over what seem like minor or trivial triggers.

The behavior described is pretty annoying and could cause a problem for someone who legitimately needs the space, but call the cops or leave a note, if you feel the need to call them on their bad behavior.

Wave,

You are 100% correct. The @#%@#$%@#$%@#$ screwed up access to both parking spaces. FWIW, at least the driver parked in the middle. I once saw a car parked across both parking handicapped spaces _and_ the crosshatched zone between them, ensuring neither space was accessible. This was before I had a cell phone with a camera built into it. Would've loved a photo for posterity.

Note the silver vehicle parked right tight on the line between their space and the handy space. WTF, people with disabilities need to be able to open their doors too.

I park like the silver vehicle all the time. Of course, there is no car parked in the 'No Parking' space. I figure if they can hug the No Parking area the way I hug the line, they'll have plenty of space for egress/ingress from both sides.

Almost 40 years ago, I went food shopping after working an 8~4 shift (I wasn't in uniform). As I was getting back to my legally parked vehicle, a young woman pulled into a clearly and legally marked handicapped stall. As she got out, I mentioned to her that she had parked in a handicap stall. She didn't say anything but, before walking away, shot me a look that I interpreted as "silly boy, I'm beautiful and, can park / do anything I want". Had she said something (anything) "ditzy", I would have let it slide. She walked into a store and, I got my memo book out of my car. I was just finishing writing her illegal parking summons when she walked back. Now, she started apologizing. I reminded her that, when she was blatantly doing something illegal (or simply inconsiderate), even if it was the town drunk telling you, you would be wise to pay attention. Over the 32+ years working as a Police Officer, that was one of maybe three times I issued a summons while I was off duty. It's a shame that summary executions in such situations are unacceptable.....
