4K a month would have me living pretty high on the hog even with my mortgage not paid off. i live on a little less than half of that and i'm feeling pretty comfortable. guess it depends on what one needs to get your creature comforts met.

I suspect that the person who found the treasure either 1) is very very used to living very very frugally, or 2) has well enough money already that another $1 million is not going to make a lot of difference.

Treasure hunting is expensive and time consuming.
