There used to be an 'international' channel free on Xfinity that regularly had interesting Scandihoovian series and other countries police procedural shows. Some corporate officer got overly self important and moved it to a premium tier so I dropped it off my favorites. I will try to get that part of my brain working to make some suggestions.

Todd, at your current location, you should get some free streaming of CBC and I-TV shows, do you not like the available local content? Trailer Park Boys and Letterkenny might be a little low brow.

SoCal had a cable channel like that. When we moved here local cable carried Channel Z. For the most part Channel Z provided an outlet for independent and/or foreign language films that HBO and other paid corporate media didn't or wouldn't carry.

It was based in Santa Monica and every year prior to Award voting would screen all nominated films for local Academy members benefit. As a result we got to see every nominated film along with them.

The Z cable slot was eventually bought and turned into a schlock sport channel, one that now carries a local MLB franchise instead of Hollywood product. Another reason to hate the Dodgers.

To this day, I miss Chanel Z.

Seems this MRF group has an aversion to TV with commercial interruptions, I know I do.

I’ll try to keep my list under 1,000…

All trailer links are You Tube.
  • Orphan Black
The miraculous and multi award winning Tatiana Maslany plays six characters in this wonderful speculative fiction series.
  • MI-6 (“Spooks” in the UK)
Great old school spy show. Thrilling. Gut wrenching. Heartbreaking. Wonderful.
  • Counterpart
Another great show with J.K. Simmons. Slightly dystopian intrigue.
  • Bodyguard
    Award winning political/romantic intrigue
  • Occupied (“Okkupert”)
Ripped from tomorrow’s Norwegian and world headlines. Norwegian domestic and international political and military conflicts with unexpected players on unexpected sides.
  • Luther
Indra Elba is phenomenal as a British homicide detective who is dedicated to his job to the point of being consumed by it.
  • Gomorrah
In the best of ways an Italian “The Godfather” (without the original’s initial fall from grace).
