In FL, these are the cars you DON'T want to be behind on your way ANYWHERE. 2nd only to the Mercury Grand Marquis. Or anything with a NY, NJ or Ontario license plate.
Ford is bringing back the Taurus to save the company !!! Yippee.

There is Sell It Yourself lot nearby and I always stop by when I am on that street. There are always so many Taurus's, the old one, and they are real cheap and normally 90-100,000 miles. However that 500 looks completely different and pretty nice. However the only Ford I would buy would be a full size pickup. They seem to last forever.

[quote BigGuynRusty][quote robfilms]i much rather have the road handling of a decent stationwagon.
rob Good handling, American Station Wagon?!?! I have never read those words in the same sentence unless it was a punchline for a joke. I love wagons, I have owned several over the years, including a Dodge with a 440 and a four speed. After a suspension overhaul 16X8 steel cop car wheels and fat radials it handled pretty damn good, but not from the factory. Most station wagons of yore cornered on the rocker panels. BGnR I have a buddy with a '72 Buick Sportwagon (Skylark) with a big block, 5 speed and some serious suspension work. But once again, not from the factory. and my '99 Sable is just fine. But it does have the 4 valve motor. Now if they make a SHO version of the 500........

The Taurus has received too much criticism I think. It is a fine car, and I have bought a few good used ones for a very good price. Because of the rapid depreciation I would not buy a new Taurus or Sable however.
I also rented a Ford Five Hundred recently and it was really impressive. Is it true this is a Volvo design? If so, we can imagine the wagon to be good as well.

[quote karsen]I guess I'm an old fart then because I like the Ford 500. It's a classy looking car, especially for the price.
I realize why I like it. It looks like my 1999 Buick Regal. They are also not doing a lot of advertising either. I never knew the 500 existed till this thread. They are not doing TV for sure because I watch the tube way too much.

Ford Five Hundred ...... What a lousy name! They must have skipped the focus group test on this one.

u made me smile thinking about all the terrible handling american wagons i have driven. 1966 ford galaxie, 1961 falcon wagonairre (i luved that car!), 1971 chevy impala (bought by my dad from a convent that closed down so my brother and i called the chevy the nun-mobile because of where it came from and what it put out-none!) i maybe embarrassing myself but i'll stand up in front of the court of popular opinion (or this forum) and declare proudly, the BEST driving stationwagon i ever drove was... a 505 Peugeot wagon. i've had 5 of them over the past 14 years (mostly had 2 of them at a time) man, the rear-wheel drive in combination with a very nicely balanced stationwagon made for a great driving experience, meaning nothing like the american wagons u rightly referred to. the 505s were slightlu underpowered, and u needed to know peugeots in order to keep them on the road-ask psurfer-another peug guy on this forum-but once the 505 got rolling it could handle anything, a true touring classic. imho. say what u will about the french say what u will about french wine say what u will about french cooking say what u will about the french and jerry lewis just don't include the 1985-1991 505 Peugeot stationwagons in that group! be well rob [quote Racer X][quote BigGuynRusty][quote robfilms]i much rather have the road handling of a decent stationwagon. rob Good handling, American Station Wagon?!?!
