Unlimited data on all plans...wow. But they force you into that middle category with a cap on the night/weekend minutes in the first.

5000 minutes / 31 days = 161 minutes/day = 2.7 hours/day Yes, yes they do.

I think the plans are attractive to new customers.
I like this Existing AT&T Customers If you’re already an AT&T customer and want to keep your current voice plan, you can just add an iPhone Data Plan with unlimited data (email and web) and Visual Voicemail for just $20 per month. chas_m was EXACTLY wrong!!!! http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/318423 The activation install video is great--but at 6:16 they show 80GB capacity?

I think 10 hours/day on the weekend will be enough for most people.

The 5000 number is for text messages not minutes. It just has a check mark under all plans for nights and weekends. ![]() Whippet, Whippet Good

If you are a recent Cingular (orange) customer, then you are a current at&t customer.
I am an old AT&T (Cingular blue) customer who never switched to Cingular, so my SIM card is incompatible with current at&t phones.

I like how on the Apple site under "Family" plan there is a tiny little asterisk after it that states that under the shared family plan...
*Includes one line. Additional iPhone lines are $29.99 each. It'd be a hell of a family plan with only one line, eh? I know everyone does this sort of thing when they are laying out pricing structures on things like this but it's still annoying. At least display the full price for minimum requirements for making use of a shared family plan. Inane grumbling aside, these rates are pretty good. Not just "fair" or ok". They are actually pretty attractive considering what you get.

Signed up with ATT before they became Cingular, never switched to a Cingular plan. I am still really on the fence about the iPhone. If I were to get one, I don't think I would use the EDGE network that much -- just to call up Google maps while in the car or walking around or whatever, primarily. I have enough WiFi networks to jump on. But the little dude standing on my other shoulder is telling me that if I'm going to get a 2.5G phone, I might as well not spend $500-600 on one for now. On the other hand, spending $200 or so on a Treo 680 feels like throwing good money after bad, even if Palm syncing is already fully integrated into my workflow.

Your other phone can be anything else, and you share your voice minutes. Read it carefully, and understand how Cingular does business. It's still a family plan. But not everyone in the family will have an iPhone. In fact, very few families will have more than one iPhone. The other phones will be normal phones. |
