OK... this thing is much cooler than I expected

Well, I think the iPad sucks!!!! All of my free time, that is! I can't put the darn thing down! Seriously! This is becoming a problem!!

And I too was watching SNL the other night, but I missed the Weekend Update part. I was reaching for the iPad each time a commercial came on, and I got so sucked in, that the tv was nothing more than background noise after the first 20 minutes.

@ RAMd®d, I have the Apple iPad case, and I don't feel it's cheap at all. It fits nice and snug, and the slippage factor has reduced ten fold. Also makes a good stand for typing or viewing.

Sure, there are probably better cases coming soon, but this one solves my problems right now.

Rick-o, I ordered one for the same reason- to take care of my needs for right now.

Glad to here you're happy with it. I hope I will be, too.

I need *something* because I really don't want to take it anywhere without some level of protection. And from the cases I've seen online, the Apple case looks to be the best.

I can see that once my mom gets her 3G iPad, and I get suckered into helping her set it up, I'm going to have to buy one for myself!

another recommendation:::

My daughter had a screaming fight with her fiancee because "he's paid more attention to his new iPad than to her for the last week."

I had to laugh. Remembering my lovely wife being really pissed at me for spending roughly a whole weekend playing Ultima on the Apple ][+, and ignoring her. So even us old farts had similar issues :oldfogey:

Yep. On our pre-cellphone honeymoon, Mrs. Buzz got a little miffed at me on the day we were driving around Oahu on the windward side and North Shore, when I kept stopping at pay phones along the way to call into the office and check on a problematic deal... thankfully, the disruptive (to her) phone calls netted us an extra $6,500 that helped put a dent in our wedding and honeymoon expenses. I did my best to make it up to her when we got back to our hotel. :oldfogey:

At this point, I think Mrs. Buzz would probably be the one to latch onto the iPad and ignore me... w/ more threads like this, we'll probably be getting at least one...

Thanks for the heads-up about AirVideo. I just bought it, and it's awesome! I have 200+ movies on my Mini HTPC, and now I can stream them to any room in my house, or even my garage, and watch on my iPad.

EyeTV users and also get their app for this, and essentially watch live TV on their iPad. Think about that.

I had no intention of purchasing an iPad. From reading a ton of reviews, I understood that while cool, it would add nothing to the myriad of laptops and desktops around our home. My brother (generous that he is), bought himself one and got me one too as a gift.

After using it for the past few days, I must say, I had no idea how amazing it could be.

....

I guess I had expected this to be a fast, big, souped up iPod Touch. But goes so far beyond that.

Anyway, I'm very happy so far, as you can tell.

I assume you posted all this from the 'Pad?

Paul, we're all doomed.

Sooner or later.

You got an iPad, and turned into a "Windows 7 machine"?

Why not just submit to a voluntary root canal?! Yikes! I'm really sorry to hear you did that to your iPad!

If you know another way for me to access our hospital lab system, paging directory, Citrix applications, dChip software, Affymetrix genotyping console or Decon2LS mass spectrometry visualizer, please let me know. For now, I need to use my Windows box for these tasks, and I'm so happy to be able to do it all from my iPad!
