Cleaned camping gear all morning...grilled steaks to perfection in the evening, (best steak ever: rub steaks with ground garlic-seasoned sea salt half hour before cooking, let sit at room temp, then rinse the salt off and pat dry, then grill. Juiciest, most tender steak ever, like buttah!)
Watched Seattle fireworks show and concert by Presidents of the USA (they still rock) on TV...Got told by 14 year old that watching fireworks on TV is lame, but we didn't have all day to spend in traffic and crowds, this year, sorry son! Seattle almost had no show this year because Chase Bank dropped their sponsorship, but local businesses were able to raise the $500K and it was the best show ever, even though we didn't see it live this year.

I worked from 6AM until 12:30PM, collapsed at home until 4:30 when I went back to work until 11PM. Holiday crunches are good in terms of earnings, but hard to take physically. By the middle of the morning and evening rounds, my feet could best have been described as pain-filled blobs. Getting home at 11 meant I got very little sleep before heading out this morning at 6 again. I'm glad things are back to normal as of tonight.

Was intently monitoring where I thought 63rd street might be and got to watch the whole thing from start to finish. They were small and too far away to hear but you could see the whole thing. Lasted about 15 minutes-- a steady stream of professional quality fireworks with no real pacing or flow . . .

Hot here in New England.
I've flown and driven up the coast on July 4th weekends. Caught the fireworks in New York one years as passing through. The fireworks over Route 95 throught the Bronx from one apartment complex to another was < Re: flying, kinda neat to look down and see them from above.

This makes fireworks displays just so much nicer. Getting to watch them from a lounge chair in the back yard is a plus, too except for the blanket of Deet. :-) |
