Are you going to buy something Apple for Christmas?
Merry Christmas! This post has been here for over 14 years, and I want to thank our sponsors for their commitment to our communication. It's a different Mac/Apple world now than it was then, but it's still a great site. Hope you have a great holiday and celebrate what is great in your life.

I did get a 30gb iPod in 2005, and I still have it, and it still works. I replaced the battery a few years ago. Sadly, I don't use it since our iPhones have everything we need.

Here it's 23.19 and I'm waiting up to just after midnight in the hope of snagging an elusive delivery slot from the supermarket. It will be for 3 weeks time but I am avoiding going out as much as possible.

Happy holiday people.

I am here to tip a soda to all forumites and the admins. I appreciate this site and the unique community.

Glad this is a tradition of visiting the oldest thread can continue since everything else is cancelled.

Looking back at this thread the last time, so much has changed in life.

TIME CAPSULE: For anyone reading this in the future, a virus called COVID-19 stopped most of normal life in the world. Schools, sports, everything was cancelled and people were asked to stay home to minimize the spread of the disease.

Sunday June 6, 2021. M1 Mac Mini and iMac are experiencing positive reports in their speed improvements over Intel. Apple is at the start of model rollouts using their Apple Silicon chips. iPhones are roughly half the smartphone market.

Last new Mac I bought for myself was over a decade before this thread's inception.

Waiting...
Hoping...

Got a 14-year-old iMac (C2D,20") to replace...or not. Still runs well, though 4GB ram (pc5300...so slow) is limiting. Spinner HD died long ago, replaced with SSD.

Maybe an M1x iMac ?
Or an M1x MBP ?
max mem, retina display, speed nearly infinite by comparison...

Excuse me, gotta get some beers for the cooler over here. And some chips. Back in a few...
