I love KFC! Will get some tomorrow. There is only one Dunkin' Donuts left in town, tho.
Good Lord! That would be sufficient grounds for an eminent domain taking in these parts~ there cannot be just ONE DD anywhere. In fact, there was a four-way intersection around these parts where three of the four corners had DDs.

They closed the only two KFC's around here a few days ago.. (I've been too lazy to find out why..),

Yup!
Seems like they lost their franchise...
I hope someone else steps up and builds a new one, or buys 'em out and reopens!
Hmm.. of course, I only got around to eating there once every 2-3 years...
But NOW I want some! MSG be damned!

There is one 2 miles west of us. ANother one east. Chicken Lit' along with $0.49 Del Taco red and green bean burrito were part of our survival meals for college students' on a tight budget.

When I worked at McDonald's years ago, franchises were very hard to get.
Besides costing major dollars, the potential owners were vetted and shopped regularly for QA. Now, not so much.
The same thing is probably true for KFC. I've found that most of their stores tend to overcook the chicken until it's very dry. Ugh. I'll find one place that I like and be very happy, until new management takes over and screws things up.
Occasionally, things will go the other way-- new management will take over a lousy KFC franchise and it will then be good. There just aren't many near me that stay good for any length of time.
One thing that bugs me about a lot of the McDonald's franchise is the holding of your order out the pick-up window while your paying or en route from the pay window. For some reason, that always reminds me of the Joe Pesci rant in Lethal Weapon 2.

I don't know if the have at all KFC's but I like their chicken livers. They're the closest thing to what Mom used to
make. I think they're chicken is too greasy. I have wrapped it in a napkin just to soak up the oil.
