I'm sure the App was written by some kid who has never seen an 8-track, let alone used one.

But will it properly emulate a misaligned tracking head that makes two songs play at the same time?

I wish I still had all my old KISS 8-tracks still.

This iconic Panasonic player has a "dynamite detonator" t-bar for manually switching to the next track:

That's the one I had.

they were "programs," not "tracks." Smile

the tape had 4 tracks of L & R channels, hence "8-track."

pressing the button or plunger shifted the head laterally along the tape, from one set of stereo tracks to the next.

The S&G Central Park concert? That was 1981---I didn't realize 8-Track tapes were still being made.

They're still being made now. I guess the forum critters don't happen by truck stops too often.

Yup. And I used to sit there shifting to the next track every few seconds. Amazing the thing survived. (Oh wait, it didn't)

I've still got some Marantz 3600 and 3800 stuff along with the 150 tuner, 250M and 510M amps.

I wish I had bought the walnut cases when I had the chance.
