Well, it's 5:30 AM and the thwelling haths gone down a bunch and it's at the itches but still hurts when you touch it stage. I'm pretty sure that it was one of those big (I swear it was 4...no 8 inches!) yellow and black wasps because there's a nest of em around here somewhere and there was no stinger in the lip. I've seen Woody do battle with these things when a stray one gets in the house. He tries to eat them when they're on the screen trying to get out. Unfortunately he's no stranger to getting stung in/on the mouth. You'd think he'd learn, no?
I'll be going back out there again today but this time I think I'll bring the scatter gun just in case. Who knows, if I can bag enough of these guys I'll fire up the grill! Just like shrimp only yellow??? Chile lime or rosemary with garlic and white wine?

I've been stung twice this year by the yellow/black wasps, but thankfully not on the lip. Once on the hand (through a work glove no less) and once just above my knee. Hurt like hell. I can sympathise though because the first time I was stung as a kid was right on the inside of my nose. I was trying to get a baseball that had rolled into some bushes and it flew out right into my nose.
