I was forwarded an email about treating burns with egg whites by a respected fellow EMT, without even researching I knew it was BS. Snopes had it covered, I did forward to the sender and every CC.

I used to send snopes corrections to the many dumb chain emails my extended family would send me but now I have a better solution to this seemingly never-ending problem:
I simply hit delete everytime one arrives.

My parents are in their 70s and I swear all they use e-mail for is forwarding paranoid political falsehoods and urban legends around to all of their senior citizen friends. Needless to say, I have been asked to be taken off of their distribution lists.

Well, I replied to a recent forward of an email and pointed out how snopes had proven it wrong. Received a reply that it didn't prove anything and you could not believe what is from the internet. I pointed out that what they had sent me was from the internet. "that is different" is the reply I got.
