Ferndale is about many things.
The cemetery to the east side of town on the rising slope with the dates changing as you go up.
The seasonal boat race and museum in town with sample boats.

The road to the south and the Lost Coast. Check out Honeydew,CA on Google Earth for the pot plantations. It's a quiet and the general store has been in several movies. Don't stay long.
It's a great place to go in the heat of the summer as it will be cool. It will be a little cooler in the winter. It might not rain.

I took a walk up the graveyard. Just fantastic! All the stones were so interesting, but as you walked, the view of the ocean got better and better. Quite a magical walk.

We did like Ferndale. We went there on Sunday. I guess that's the yard sale day, because we must have seen a dozen of them. Charming little town, very scenic. I wish we'd had more time to look around, but dagnabbit, we went down there to look at trees! I would have enjoyed the graveyard, having a sort of odd attraction to them.

We saw a grove of sequoias alright. But it's more like experiencing them. They certainly were awesome to look at, but like malfunction said, the pictures don't do them justice. It's all about their silent presence over hundreds or thousands of years, though I think we only saw 400 or 500 year old youngsters. It was surprisingly moving to see the fallen ones decomposing, becoming dirt again, taller than our house even laying on their sides. That's a cool story about the seedling.

Whoa! You can't drop this on us without PHOTOs!

I (and I'm sure everyone here) would love to see what your team's entry looked like in the Kinetic Grand Championship..
