ztirffritz,

I see that your cooker, originally about $30, is being sold USED on Amazon for over 4 times that amount, and a new one is advertised for over $200. I guess they ain't makin' em any more.

Your wife made a great call.

1. Put 4 eggs in a small pan
2. fill pan with cold water until eggs are submerged
3. bring to boil, go to step 4 immedialety
4 as soon as boiling remove pan from burner and cover and sit for ten minutes.
5. plunge under cold water and remove shells.

Way too much work and clean up. =)

you could move to Phoenix and leave the egg on the sidewalk at noon for a couple of minutes.
maybe pay someone to go pick it up

I like my eggs hatched and then grilled. :yum:

Be careful.
They'll try to scamper out of the pan.

Bring to a boil. Then gently boil for 12 minutes. Cover in ice and cold water.

We bought one of those rapid egg cookers for xmas -- its by far the easiest way to hard boil eggs. I put them in the kids lunches, peel first then put in a little hard plastic containter. Easy peasy.
We got one, too. I'm incredibly lazy and it is perfect for me.

I forgot to mention, it is ideal if one wants to boil eggs at work.

This one works just fine. I have one, my mother has one, even my cranky cook of a husband likes it: https://www.amazon.com/Dash-Rapid-Egg-Co...B00DDXYC6O

6 minutes in my Instant Pot. put a cup of water in the bottom, the eggs of a strainer, seal it and go -- perfect every time. The pressure also gets between the egg and the shell, separating the two. The shell just peels away cleanly and easily. You can do 1 or a couple dozen in the same 6 minutes.

now THAT'S a bitchin' idea. Gotta ad that to my list of reasons to get an InstantPot.

I'm attempting the paleo diet and I'm replacing my morning oatmeal with a pair of hard boiled eggs and some fruit. Steaming eggs for 15 min on the stovetop has worked well for me so far but I'm trying to work toward something a bit more convenient. I bike to work and transporting eggs...I can do it, but I'd rather not. I thought I might figure out a way to boil them at work.

Any tips?

So, you would rather not transport hard boiled eggs to work but rather transport fresh eggs in-the-shell and boil them at work...
