Mini DVD to Analog via Victoria's Secret
#21
First we went to the Apple Store, then Victoria's Secret. After my wife got her bras, then I went back to the Apple Store and got the Mini.

The bras are working better than the Mini at this point.....

Okay, due to popular demand......

(Now I'd better get that back in the drawer before my wife gets home)

I have an ’85 Sony too, and don’t plan on replacing it unless it breaks or won’t do something that I Need a TV to do. It still works great. Wife and I both drive cars more than 15 years old and still get to where we are going. :driving: I tend to hang on to stuff till it won’t work for what I need anymore.

Exactly.

Our TV is a Trinitron KX-2501A Component Analog/Digital RGB.

To us, the picture looks as good as the day we plunked down our hard earned dollars. Our feeling at the time was to buy quality, and hopefully enjoy for many years. That was a big purchase for us.

When it no longer works, we'll get something new.

:agree: to the above 2 posts.

We gave up our 1974 vintage 27" Sony console TV about 5 years ago and the only reason we did that was because the picture finally started giving out.

We also drive old cars. My wife a 1993 Celica GT-S and I a 1987 SAAB 900S. If something works, why get rid of it? To me that's wasteful.

Does your old tv have a spare composite-in jack?

If so then get a video-converter box as above.

I had one between a G3 and my old tv for many years. The picture's a little fuzzy, but it works.

I used an adapter from GrandTec like this:

We like our Sony. We've stayed in places that have a flat screen, and think the picture quality is inferior to our CRT. But reasonable people can differ..

We can safely guarantee that the kind of TVs hotels purchase in bulk would certainly make you feel good about the Sony you have at home, if flatness alone, and no other factor, is the basis to compare by.

"My wife and I saw a TV with a flat screen at the Comfort Inn not long ago, and you know what? It wasn't that great"

Well....yeah! I don't think you'll find anyone who'd disagree there!

There is also the matter of dollars. Why buy a new flat screen TV if you have one that you like already? Even if it is over 20 years old.

Just be grateful your lovely wife doesn't feel that way about bras and hose and underwear made a quarter of a century ago, and enjoys the look, fabric, and feel of ones made in 2009!

I read somewhere that Ralph Nader got 20 pair Navy-issue black shoes when he was in the service, and hasn't bought a pair of shoes since, probably in about 50 years. He's on his 16th pair by now.

He'd be a perfect candidate for Macresource forums!

to heck with Nader's stinky shoes, what about a jiggly bra shot?
