aggressive driver video
#31
Maybe "aggressive" is not the right word here, but imagine you saw this out your front window several times a day with your kids playing outside.

I agree with your statement Black. I should have said "irresponsible" driver, based on what you can see on the video. BTW, I am not sure how long this has been going on, but I noticed it the first time a few weeks ago, this lady was tailgating me before stop sign, and when I came to a full STOP, she just passed me and turned left, all without slowing below 20 MPH (I guess) and speeding up after that to who know what (speed limit is 25). when there is no car at the STOP sign she turns right and passed by my house and I see kids playing outside (in Summer, now they are mostly in school). when she turns LEFT, the driveway is slightly longer and passes by the playground, again posing a danger to kids crossing the street if she drives well above speed limit.

I wanted to gauge general opinion if this is something that should be reported or not. Almost everyone said something needs to be done, so I plan to contact the Board of Homeowners Association, since they are talking about implementing a "neighborhood watch" here, and also the local Police.

At the same time, I'd confess, I've seen much more egregious aggressiveness.

The number one fear that every parent in this country lives with (except the Amish and the people who keep their kids in basement closets maybe) is that their kid will get hit by a car. It's so completely ubiquitous that we almost aren't even aware of it, and barely talk about it.

Black, not hard to imagine, my friend. I DO see it outside my window with my kids playing the front yard, every day. Heck, on the walk to school there was a car I'd regularly seen for about a month that would run a four-way stop sign two blocks from my house in just the same fashion as this driver in the video space-time posted for us (i.e. not slowing down and even accelerating THROUGH the intersection.)

Frankly, I'd just like to see all the bad drivers have their licenses taken away. It would be a key plank in my platform if I were to run for office. "Get bad drivers off the street, reduce traffic and commute times." I'd aim to eliminate the worst 10%.

I'm even willing to admit that I may well fall into that worst 10% category. I'd be the first to hand my license over... I can't wait for the era of self-driving cars, because then I could get out of the unpleasant business. Not because I don't enjoy driving but because I don't enjoy other people's driving.

Final addendum - I think my number one fear is that my children will be shot by some nutcase with a gun or sexually abused by said nutcase because of the power having a gun gives them.

I think most people would say this. Because they're learned to live with the fear of death by automobile just like they no longer hear the refrigerator running.... and I thing they're completely :bs:ing themselves.

Sending your kid out thf ront door is like sending a guppy into the Pirahna tank, but we just love the Pirahna too much.

That's annoying. More than likely a type who thinks the world revolves around them and rules only apply to others.

Before the police, you could try...

-Hang a sign on the stop sign. Silver Toyota, "Stop, this means you too!"

-Burn a CD and tape it to their windshield with a note

By all means, then, never let the kids leave the house. :RollingEyesSmiley5:

Virtually nobody ever loses their "right to drive" for very long in this country.

I didn't think I implied that happened.

They must have moved away.

We assumed as much. Their house wasn't very close to us; we were just in his flight path.

watching it big with good sound, I still see some horrible judgment/ poor control of the vehicle their. There's some sort of impairment IMO.

It looks like she's driving through a small dip in the street, adjacent to a storm drain and the relieved area in the sidewalk and curb for handicap/wheelchair access. Horrible judgement, yes. Full control of the vehicle, I'd say.

But either way, there need to be consequences.

Absolutely.

I agree that she seems to be driving as though the Stop sign were optional. I wonder how she behaves in traffic.

I also agree that s-t should not make contact. There's just no telling how she (or a friend) will react, and at the very least I bet that besides getting flipped off, you'd be accused of harassment. Not that this all a given or likely.

There is need of police intervention. Interdiction, actually.

Take more video, then call the police. The more video, the better. Great video BTW.
