Old-timers from the "old forum"

While I was looking I found the pictures of the mutant lemon I had been looking for last week.

My oldest post as "davester" was 2005, but I was lurking and posting unregistered for several years before that as I recall. So, what have I been doing with my life since then?...posting on a silly mac forum?...I'll never get rich this way!!

Dealmac had one of the best forum communities I've ever run across. I was there pre-'99, but I have no idea how long before that. It could have been as early as sometime in '97, but I'm not really sure. I've still got one of the dealmac t-shirts they handed out at Macworld San Francisco one year.

Random memories: The Great Buy.com Hitachi Monitor Price Error (I got a $6.00 check out of that one), The Piano Wire Stalking Incident, ETNTGA, Woodchuck, POMTL, B&W laser printer, the various iterations of YouCan'tHandletheFrank, great Macworld keynote threads (Back when there really was "...just one more thing.", rants against that newfangled OS X user interface, The birth, life and death of CoreComputers.

Things grew unsettled and the milk curdled for good after 9/11 and that was that. I just clicked on the bookmark I have for the dealmac FAQ. That too is gone. :igh::

Searching the Dealmac forums shows my oldest post at 5/4/99, but I'm pretty sure I lurked there quite a bit earlier. In any case 10 years with this community across two different domains.

You guys sure are an entertaining bunch!

Edit - Yeah, it looks like their search only goes back to 1999. I'm fairly sure I was there at 1997 - so make it 12 years with y'all

Actually, looking at my first "davester" post on dealmac, it is pretty hilarious and involves a bunch of current personalities (lafinfil, jimmypoo, pat, comandante butata, etc). My posts go back to 1999 under my real name. However, I remember visiting Dealmac while I was still in grad school (~97, and not grade school, like 'chip ). Probably before they opened the forum, since I vaguely remember the announcement.

Earliest post I can find is 5/24/2009, but since I was talking rev. B iMac and I know I had a rev. A, pretty sure I was on in '98 at some point. I've grown old (and skinny then fatter again) with MRF!
