Unlike the people living in your house, US Senators have a hand in determining who will serve on the nation's highest court. So yeah they need to know something about recent court decisions. By saying she disagrees with "lots of them" and then being unable to name even one she just looked pitiful.

You and your family don't have to worry about SCOTUS decisions if you don't want to, since you've elected intelligent, well-informed, people to make those decisions on your behalf, right?
