Seems to me like the term "creeper" has suddenly snuck into people's vernacular.
We used to say "stalker" for a creep or something like that. Now I'm hearing this non-word all over the place...

I like it. And use it, mostly when referring to something specific in question, as opposed to a generic catch-all phrase. To wit -
Craigslist Potential Buyer: Aww, it's only an i5? I really wanted an i7. Craigslist Seller: It is what it is, man.

"My bad". This dumb phrase is a different thing, and I do think it should go. I agree w/Drew; people often use it to defuse and trivialize the guilt of their poor behavior, so they can get away w/anything.
[Man is caught in utterly evil social act, Accuser points finger] Accuser: That was awful. You're a sick individual! Man: My bad... On the other hand, I like "it is what it is".

I had a boss that would use "It is what it is" after he had underestimated the time it would take for us to do a job. Since we traveled, and had planes to catch, besides doing the job, underestimating really put huge burdens on us, like crazy long days, no time for meals, sleep. It also short changed our pay, when we were being paid by the hour.
It was an excuse phrase when he screwed up, but we still had to deliver. I hate glib catch phrases.
