>>You said that, not rjmacs. Regardless of how long a person serves, if they are not deported after serving the sentence, they will be back on the streets.
Huh? rjmacs said that not all illegals convicted of a crime serve their full prison term. You said they all do. A quick google tells me you are wrong Grace. If they are deported soon after the crime, they may be back in short order, essentially with a free-out-of-jail card. Hardly ever happens? They come back illegally! How the heck do we know how often it happens? Surveys? Actually I know how, and it's not a good enough method. People go years (or forever) without getting caught again. There are people who run meth labs that never get caught. kj.

Just a friendly suggestion, but try paying attention to the what the Obama administration is actually doing, and the many ways that it is a departure from what was done during the Bush years. You'll learn something, instead of speculating about what somebody else might do and saying you have no ideas.
You know, I'll just not be like you. And frankly, I'm absolutely amazed how NOT different Obama is from Bush. Plus, Obamalove's just not going to be as important to me as it is to you. kj.

"... The illegal entry of non-nationals into the United States is a misdemeanor according to the Immigration and Nationality Act, which prohibits non-nationals from entering or attempting to enter the United States at any time or place which has not been designated by an immigration officer, and also prohibits non-nationals from eluding inspection by immigration officers."
That's from wikipedia...is that incorrect?
That is correct. But this is where we get into what is known, what the evidence is, etc. People can't be found guilty of crimes, no matter what they are, as a matter of inference. It is possible to be out of status without having entered the U.S. illegally (expired student or travel visa, for example), and it's also possible for border authorities to admit people in error.
No matter the case, the operating reality is that ICE does not attempt to prosecute unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. for misdemeanor illegal entry, even if they are found guilty of violating civil law and ordered deported. Most deported aliens are sent home without any criminal conviction whatsoever.
