Interesting how people jump to conclusions without knowing a thing about AAA's neighborhood.

Is his nearest neighbor a crack house?
Is his nearest neighbor 100 yards away, out of range of the lights?

Would I want one of those in my yard? Nah...
Do I think AAA is capable of making his own decision about whether it's right for HIS yard? Sure.

I think what AAA needs is a security light that uses motion sensors to guide the pan and tilt of the light.

Some people choose to imagine the worst of someone else's actions then assume they need psychological help. Why would anybody jump to the conclusion that this is *fear* motivated?

Depending on where the light shines, the neighbors whose property was burglarized might actually welcome his pro-active.

It's an established fact that well-lighted areas reduce incidents of crime. No, not eliminate, but reduce it. Crime against a person does indeed induce fear. Except maybe in stupid people. Crime against property induces financial loss, and possibly some anger. Except in stupid people.

Some console themselves with useless rhetoric such as "Well, they probably needed it more than I do" or the classically idiotic "What goes around comes around".

Others add lights. And yet they're the Crazy Ones. Go figure.

I too assume that AAA is considerate enough not to have the lights shining in bedroom windows. That would be inconsiderate. I use IR for that.

Just a HUGE fluorescent. But fluorescents die all the time in my house. Picked up TWO more today to see if it was just a bad unit or all of them will do that.

Here is photo. I will be cutting down the trees/shrubs whatever (arborvitae) to the right that blocks about 70% of the light. Might raise it up a bit more, too once I get used to this spot.

I would recommend that you be considerate of your neighbors with such a bright light. I speak from experience. I have jerks as neighbors on one side. They bought a backyard shed and put floodlights on the roof- one light points toward my backyard (but also does light-up their backyard; the second floodlight points toward my house- if my blinds plus venetian blinds aren't closed I'd have lights all over my kitchen and dining rooms and upstairs bedroom. At least they (mostly) go to bed early and then turn off the lights. I once talked to the lady (who lives there with her punk son) and mentioned that it bothered me . She told me she just uses it when she lets her dogs out (dobermans), which is a blatant lie.

Anyhow, my point is that bright lights can affect your neighbor and you might want to adjust things to avoid being obtrusive. If your property is more isolated than this probably is not a problem.
