Car and Driver 10 best cars list
#11
I wish my wife had gotten a Corolla instead of her Civic, but that still dosen't mean I think Toyota has anything worthy of being on the 10 best list.

The Honda Fit has a LOT going for it. It just not exactly what my wife wanted

I am still surprised the Fit does not get better mileage. I don't know if it is because they cheaped out on the design or they made it too sporty.

The new Fit got a larger engine hence the lower millage. My '07 gets 36 MPG!

I'm a little over that height myself and drive a car that's based off an older A6. I fit in it very comfortably. The newer ones have even more room. What was it about the A6 you didn't like?

If the 2010 Fit has a 1.5-liter inline-4, I'm wondering how much smaller the 07 is? Personally I would be more inclined to consider the Fit if they upped it to a 2.0 liter, but that would probably ruin the appeal they are going for.

"Umm, Toyota fell of the earth?"

I wanted a new Toyota Sienna minivan to replace my 2004 Sienna XLE Limited. Gas mileage has dropped. The new model is a bit peppier but it's a minivan, I don't need pep. Toyota still confuses the hell out of buyers with all the pages of options. Even when a buyer selects Toyota's top of the line model, there are still thousands of dollars of options. I should NOT have to pay extra for floor mats on a $40k+ vehicle.

I'll keep driving my current model. There's nothing wrong with it and, with just reasonable service, it should easily last another 10+ years.

heh, I have been waiting for Toyota to release a new station wagon (a full sized one, not like the Matrix) for years and the best thing they have right now is the Venza, which I happen to like but I dunno if it's really what I need. Had my eye on the Outback for a while but the new model is kinda icky looking IMO. Probably find a nice used one eventually.

Probably because emission standards continue to increase. Most foreign cars are not engineered to meet US emission standards, but international fuel economy expectations/standards. The last car I had was designed for Europe. There it gets about 28MPG on the highway. In the US, they added a second catalytic converter to meet emission standards. That drops the MPG from 28 to 21.
