Scary thing is, out here on the West Coast, we got rid (or had knocked down by quakes) all our unreinforced brick buildings...
I've been to Maryland and DC.. and you folks built the WHOLE PLACE from unreinforced brick!

You get much MORE than a 3.6, and the whole damn place is gonna collapse!
Hell, I want a "clean slate" in Washington DC as much as the next guy.. but not THAT way!

If you live in a brick house, get the flashlight out and do a little foundation inspection...

some even sit on local quarried (sometimes just pulled out of the yard) somewhat loosely piled stone wall foundations .
