Absolutely not. You should be able to get a 17" dual core i7 for just under $1000. Heck, even some quad core i7's have sold for just under or near $1000 (not as common).
About the only upgrade on that machine is the hard drive at 1TB, but hard drives are cheap (and it could be an old, slow 1TB; you can't tell from what you've posted). Maybe if it has an anti-glare screen, that adds some value, but I still saw some anti-glare i7's ending for under $1k on eBay.

Nope. You need to do a lot more research before you buy if you thought that was even remotely close to a deal. That is a $600 machine plus a $50 hard drive.

Thanks for the many responses.
I'll pass this by.
I do need a 17 inch because my eyesight is failing and the 15" is getting too hard to see. Guess I'll watch ebay for a deal.

If that is a 17" then you can add $100 to my price, but it still isn't worth $1k.

Note that only the 2011 17" is capable of Airplay Mirroring, if you're interested in that feature.

Don't get a MBP without solid state memory for the boot drive.
