There's bazillions of shave sites.
Whoda thunk?

Bill,
True. But, the only DE razor I'd consider purchasing used is an antique or if I knew its history, i.e. buying one from a friend. Otherwise, I'd prefer a new model.

I suspect the real issue is that you've been using an electric for a long time, and just switched back to a blade. Therefore your skin is not used to the blade experience. So almost regardless of your method, you will get irritation until your skin is used to the blade.
I went through that some years ago. Since then I always shave with a blade at least once a week.

cbelt,
I think electric shaver manufacturers recommend not switching back and forth between electric shaving and wet shaving with a blade. At least that's what I remember when I gave electric a try and couldn't stand it. I wanted to use both methods but everything I read said stick to one or the other. I gave electric a try but quickly returned to a razor. Electric couldn't compare at all.

FWIW the irritation came after I'd used it for 3 days, not the first day which was fine.
At any rate it seems there are lots of potential solutions here and I'll try some of them, thanks all.
