Best bargain hard drive/SSD for MBP 2008 (SATA, not II interface)

Silvarios,

THe other issue is that Apple appears to be using more proprietary drives in their machines. So, if you buy an SSD, it's not necessarily going to work properly in a newer mac. 'course, an SSD in a USB 3.0 case is still worthwhile if a new machine already has an SSD and USB 3.0. It'll make cloning the drive for backups via SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner that much faster. Smile

This seems like a good deal, and gets great reviews, enough so that I'm considering getting one myself...

Yep. Some users are likely to be tempted. I had three. Well, more like HacBasic for me.

Exactly my original point. A 2.5" SSD is not a future proof addition in the sense you will likely need a different form factor for internal use once upgraded to the new Mac. Sure, you would still have a speedy low capacity external drive, but most of my external drives are much bigger than the inexpensive 120GB SSDs out there at the moment. As much as I wish for more speed, I need the capacity for honest to goodness traditional data storage when it comes to external storage. No, I don't have thousands for the same capacity as SSD. I wish.
