Honestly folks we feel like we're living in a vacuum. There is just no real news about
Lilian's family except that they have survived the initial onslaught of the storm. We are realistically and obviously very grateful for that, do not get me wrong. Lilian's parents both use some medications regularly and those are likely unavailable for them now. We just do not know what besides them survived the storm. Did any chickens survive ? How much food and water do they have ? Topical antibiotics ? Do they have dry wood for building a fire for cooking, boiling water, what kind of shelter do they have, clothing ? Reports from TV say the main national roads are cleared but not secondary roads. Highwaymen are robbing people. Did Lilian's dad and brother make it back to Beta-og after going to Tacloban and finding Nerissa and Musashi ? Details, details, details :banghead: *(:>* On a positive note I have had 2 replies to emails about, Berkey Water Purification Systems. Getting them here from Colorado asap is going to be a little challenging, but I have 2 plans on the burner. The generator situation is on going and considering the propane/LPG conversion kit. Trying to get into my "survival mode mind" and instincts. Details, details, details. Logistics remain the critical problem for all the organized relief agencies, government and military personnel deployed to assist in the delivery of food, water and medicines. There is still no real pipeline for delivering aid and supplies. No matter who one donates too or who is ready to bring in supplies, the ability to get to remote and isolated locations is more than limited, it is almost freaking impossible. I used to imagine myself as a "can do guy" . . . ok regrouping and trying to use my time more wisely. Thank you very much for your support, kind PM's, donations and your messages here. I want to send a rather long overdue "Thank You" to MRP-Admins for the "Sticky" and sponsoring us. Details, details details . . . Apologies for my typing skills and message errors. Rudie *(:>*

Whatever you do, do it safely. It seems unlikely you will make use of either a generator or a water purifier simply because you won't be able to get them to where they are needed before the authorities come up with a solution for both needs. Perhaps it would be better to concentrate on rebuilding Lilian's family's lives down the road.

I will be donating to Shelter Box "Philippines" as well as continuing to do what is needed in the long-term and short-term also. Information is still slowly trickling in . . .
We still have no direct contact and have not talked with Lilian's family since Thursday November 8 Thank you for your kind words and continued support. Rudie *(:>* http://www.michaeldsellers.com/blog/2013...ncomplete/ List of More than 100 Desperate Towns Ravaged by Yolanda / Haiyan — And This is Incomplete By Michael D. Sellers On November 12, 2013 · Just how big is the problem in the Philippines? How big is the need? Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) raked a huge swath across the center of the country. Tacloban was the biggest population center and was hit very hard and it is getting 90% of the attention in the international media, so much so that it threatens to obscure the true scope of the devastation. This is not about one city. Tacloban is the beginning of the story. It’s not the story. All throughout the region there are towns and villages and all around the world there are Filipinos desperate for news about their missing relatives. And in the towns, those relatives are desperate for assistance which has not arrived. The Philippine Star has started making an effort to catalogue the population centers that are affected, starting with those for whom there are relatives who have written to the Star saying no aid as arrived. That preliminary list: Samar Santa Rita Salcedo Basey Marabut Giporlos Hernani Guiuan Llorente Catbalogan San Policarpio Borongan Lawaan Taft Balangkayan
