guns kill more people than car accidents in 12 states plus DC
#11
We are told "NOT TO Judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics." But on the other hand,
"We are also encouraged TO Judge ALL Gun Owners by the actions of a few lunatics."

How is that supposed to work???

Who is encouraging you to do that?

I think most of us are well aware that the majority of American gun owners are not law breakers. They do however have a higher chance of getting killed by a gun or having someone in their household get killed by a gun than people who choose not to own guns. That's just a simple fact. Not a judgement on any individual.

Swampy makes a good point. To improve it... LIberals encourage and exhort voters and lawmakers to restrict the right to bear arms because of the acts of a few lunatics.

That's a very true statement.

Not finding great data but evidence suggests dogs kill more people with guns than with cars.

OT - but actually being distracted by a dog in the car causes a heck of a lot of accidents

What a steaming pile of data that is.

There are many dangerous activities that are limited and restricted and there is no reason why gun ownership shouldn't be one.

As a liberal, I don't entirely disagree. I would paraphrase a bit, to point out that it's the acts of more than just a few, and most are not really lunatics, just people who become uncontrollably angry, or lack self control, or are trying to commit a crime. There are also the depressed people who shoot themselves. When you get to thirty thousand dead, it's a big number, albeit due to a lot of separate causes. The major argument is that we as a people have to worry about guns being used against us in public places and in schools, under circumstances where we have nothing to do with the precipitating cause or mental illness. The counter to that argument is that the United States is uniquely safe from a suppressive government due to all the armed citizens. The counter-counter argument is that when an oppressive government comes into being, it will be wrapped in the flag and in religion. I see a little of that latter case already.

best estimate is that by 2015 in the United States total deaths from gun shots will exceed total deaths from auto accidents. These 12 states just got there a little earlier.

Most people who get shot deserve it.

Do you have a point here, or are you just trolling?
